Meet Our Team
Charlie R. Wesley IV
Mr. Wesley serves as Founding Partner of Thoroughbred and leads the firm’s efforts on its terminals, logistics and natural resources assets as well as private equity relationships.
Previously, Mr. Wesley developed the RAM Terminal site located in Louisiana and served on its board until its successful exit to a consortium led by Tallgrass Energy. He is an Independent Director on the Board of Hallador Energy (Nasdaq: HNRG). Prior roles include serving as Chief Planning and Commercial officer of Ramaco Resources (Nasdaq: METC), Senior Director of Finance at Lumen Technologies (NYSE:LUMN), where he was also responsible for the operation and ultimate disposition of the company’s coal mining operations. He began his level career at the law firms of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld and Strasburger & Price, focusing on international energy transactions and previously was with a coal company as a mine engineer. He is an active private investor in natural resources, financial technology and craft brewing and is a board member across multiple industries and philanthropic organizations.
Mr. Wesley holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
W. Aaron Bowlds
Mr. Bowlds serves as Founding Partner of Thoroughbred and leads the firm’s efforts on its renewable energy and infrastructure real estate investments as well as its transaction structuring and capital markets relationships.
Previously, Mr. Bowlds served as Executive Vice President of Terminal Holdings LLC from 2016 through its successful exit in 2018 to a consortium led by Tallgrass Energy. He is experienced in distressed investing and turnarounds, having led numerous distressed acquisitions and related transactions including the successful restructuring of a multi-billion-dollar Chapter 11 bankruptcy and management of various energy assets through multiple restructurings. He previously served as Head of Corporate Development and General Counsel for a global technology company backed by Blackstone, Senior Counsel at Level 3 Communications, and has held numerous executive and director roles in multiple industries, with deep experience in operations, M&A, and public and private financing transactions. He is an active private investor, including in real estate and early-stage technology. He began his career at the law firm K&L Gates focusing on M&A and financing transactions.
Mr. Bowlds holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Alysha Cooke, CPA
Ms. Cooke joined Thoroughbred in September 2017 and serves as the Vice President of Finance. She manages the financial operations of Thoroughbred and its investment portfolio, including financial reporting, cash flow management, due diligence for new investment opportunities, and tax compliance and strategic planning. She also serves as the Board Secretary for Thoroughbred's portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Thoroughbred, Ms. Cooke was the Vice President of Finance and Operations at P2BInvestor Inc., a B2B marketplace lender which developed proprietary software for syndicating loans. She aided P2BInvestor in doubling its loan portfolio and raising a Series A round of equity financing. Her prior experience also includes work with the Governmental Accounting Standard Board and Deloitte & Touche's Accounting Advisory practice, where she specialized in revenue recognition, derivatives and hedging, debt and equity transactions, and systems implementations. Ms. Cooke has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the University of Denver.
Ms. Cooke holds a BBA in Accounting and an MS in Finance from Texas A&M University and is a licensed CPA.
Tanya Moore
Mrs. Moore joined Thoroughbred as the Office and Accounting Manager in May 2018. She has a deep background in full general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
Mrs. Moore began her career working for Market Transport, a transportation company based in Oregon. She started in Driver Payroll and was promoted to Accounting Manager within 5 years. She was responsible for creating many efficiencies within her team and oversaw the implementation of a new imaging system. She assisted the company through multiple mergers and acquisitions, including incorporating accounting reporting and processes of acquired companies. She also aided with the company’s transition to public reporting. She was promoted to the Controller and was a member of the Executive Team for the last 7 years of her 25-year employment with the company. After relocating to Colorado, Mrs. Moore joined P2BInvestor, Inc., a financial technology company that provides clients with competitively priced, flexible, and scalable capital, as the Senior Accountant in 2016. She was instrumental in establishing controls and processes for an average of $10 million in daily cash transactions.
Tim Lochtefeld
Mr. Lochtefeld joined Thoroughbred in February 2022. He serves as the Business Development Manager where he focuses on new deal sourcing and origination, underwriting, and ongoing
commercial/corporate development for new and existing portfolio companies in the agriculture sector.
Prior to joining Thoroughbred, Mr. Lochtefeld was a Financial/Business Development Analyst at Willow Glen Terminal where he developed and managed the company’s financial models and renewable fuels and feedstocks business development efforts. Prior to that, he was an Investment Analyst at Cambridge Associates where he advised and managed 10+ Canadian facility offices with an aggregate AUM of $2.5B.
Mr. Lochtefeld received a BSBA from the University of Denver in Finance and Business Analytics.
Evan Brink
Mr. Brink joined Thoroughbred as a Portfolio Analyst in July 2023. In this capacity, he specializes in the production of high-quality marketing materials, investor presentations, and financial analysis. Additionally, he develops automated processes to streamline operations and has a strong focus on research, analyzing potential transactions across various industries.
Prior to joining Thoroughbred, he garnered experience as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Dinan Capital Advisors, contributing to marketing materials and data analysis across multiple sectors. He
also held a position as an Operational Data Analyst at Elevate Industrial Solutions, where he initiated operational efficiencies and developed automated reporting to significantly improve margin.
Mr. Brink holds a BSBA in Finance from the University of Denver.
